Defect density measures how many defects were found per unit of size—commonly per thousand lines of code or per module—giving teams a way to compare the relative quality of components and to spot risky areas that warrant more testing. It is most useful in context: a high-density module may simply be complex and business-critical, making it a prime candidate for thorough regression coverage.
