What is Exploratory Testing?
Exploratory testing is a disciplined but unscripted approach where the tester explores the application, forms hypotheses about where defects might hide, and investigates them on the fly. It relies on human curiosity and product insight to find issues that predefined scripts never anticipate, making it a powerful complement to automation rather than a replacement. The findings are most valuable when captured: reproduce an interesting bug, record the flow, and convert it into a permanent automated regression test.
